Our SEO case studies

Our optometry SEO services
A patient searches for an “optometrist near me” to book an eye exam, then compares frames or contact lenses, sometimes with an online retailer. Every clinic’s foundation (Business Profile, one page per service, reviewed content, reviews and technical SEO) is covered on the page of our healthcare SEO agency; for optometry practices, we add services that keep eye care and eyewear apart. As an SEO agency in Montreal, we take on optometry practices across Canada and the United States.
Eye exam pages by age and coverage
We build one page per exam: children’s, adult and senior eye exams, contact lens exams and emergency visits. Each page explains what the public plan or the patient’s insurance covers. In Quebec, for example, RAMQ covers optometric services such as one complete eye exam per calendar year for patients under 18 or aged 65 and over, plus emergency exams for any insured person with a sudden eye problem.
Optical shop pages for frames and contacts
We treat the optical shop as a product side with its own keywords: frames by style or brand, progressive lenses, daily contact lenses and prescription sunglasses. These pages show your real collections in photos and link to online booking for a fitting. When you advertise a price, check your regulator’s rules: in Quebec, section 85 of the Code of ethics of optometrists requires clear details on the services and products offered, what is not included and the period of validity.
Online store SEO against eyewear retailers
For practices that sell online, we apply the methods of our ecommerce SEO agency: product pages, frame categories, product structured data and contact lens reorder pages. Each product page puts forward what the practice does in person, such as measurements and fitting. Patients keep the right to buy elsewhere: in the United States, the FTC’s Eyeglass Rule and Contact Lens Rule require prescribers to give patients a copy of their prescription at no extra charge, and section 18 of Quebec’s Code protects the patient’s right to have a prescription filled where they choose.
Optometrist or optician: the right title
We name the right professional for each service, with the title your regulator recognizes, because scopes of practice and titles differ by province and state. In Quebec, for example, the Optometry Act covers the examination of the eyes and the prescription, fitting and sale of ophthalmic lenses (s. 16), while the Dispensing Opticians Act lets a dispensing optician fit and sell those lenses on the prescription of a physician or optometrist (ss. 8 and 9). The same Optometry Act bars an optometrist from using the title of specialist or indicating a specialty (s. 24), so a page reads “dry eye exams,” never “dry eye specialist,” and Quebec’s Code requires every advertisement to mention the optometrist’s name and title (s. 84).
Eye health content reviewed in-house
We write the blog articles patients read before booking: myopia in children, dry eye, glaucoma, follow-up after LASIK or the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. Each piece is written with Google’s E-E-A-T criteria in mind, reviewed by a professional at your practice, who can sign it, then approved by you in Google Docs. Quebec’s Code prohibits a testimonial or endorsement in advertising, as well as claims contrary to scientifically acceptable data (s. 82): by default, your reviews stay on your Business Profile, where they support your reputation, and every article cites its sources. The content stays general information, separate from clinical advice.

Everything about optometry SEO

What optometry patients search for
Eye emergencies, the same day
With conjunctivitis or a foreign body in the eye, a patient searches for an “emergency optometrist” or an “eye doctor near me” plus their city and looks for an optometry practice that is open, a local SEO search. We build an emergency page with your real hours, the cases you see and a call button, then keep the hours on your Google Business Profile and Google Maps current. In Quebec, RAMQ covers the emergency exam for any insured person with a sudden eye problem, but not the treatment needed after an eye emergency.
The planned yearly eye exam
Parents look for a children’s eye exam, while adults whose exam is not covered compare fees and availability. We target these searches with pages by patient group and clear answers on coverage, insurance reimbursement and online booking, and we refresh children’s exam pages before the back-to-school season.
Buying glasses or contact lenses
Eyewear searches look like shopping: frame brand, style, price, an optical store near me or buying online. In Quebec, the RAMQ program See Better to Succeed offers a $300 reimbursement for prescribed eyeglasses or contact lenses for a child under 18, a detail worth stating on your product pages. We link product pages to your exam pages, so an eyewear customer can also book their next eye exam.
Who optometrists compete with online
In Google, an independent practice shares the results with large optical chains, big-box stores with an optical counter, practices under a banner or buying group and online retailers. On searches that name a frame brand plus a city, we target the brands you actually carry in store, with a page per collection rather than a generic catalog. A practice website can rely on a template shared by several clinics, so we add copy specific to your optometrists and your neighborhood, keep your name consistent across directories such as Yelp and handle link building through editorial backlinks and guest posts, with no questionable practices. Visibility in AI answers from ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews can draw on these sources too, as our GEO agency in Montreal page explains.
Our optometry SEO method
Map your exams and product lines
We start with an audit of your website, your Business Profile and the optometry practices that rank in your area. We then list your exams and your products, and keyword research sizes the search volume and competition of each.
Sort care searches from product searches
We separate care keywords (exams and emergencies) from product keywords (frames and contacts), then rank them by what each brings in: exams, frames or contact lenses. Every month, we review those priorities against your rankings and conversions, such as calls, bookings and other leads, through a monthly report or a meeting, as you prefer.
Publish your exam and eyewear pages
Our team executes directly on your site, on WordPress as well as Shopify, from title tags and on-page SEO to your Business Profile. Google Ads management, included in the mandate with no management fee and run on an ad budget you set, can bring in exam bookings from new patients while organic traffic builds.
Optometry SEO pricing for eye care practices
For an optometry practice, in a competitive healthcare field, a mandate typically starts at $2,000 to $3,000 per month. The price depends on the scope of the work and the competition, not a fixed price grid; larger sites move to a custom mandate. Google Ads management is included with no management fee, and the mandate runs month to month.

Optometry SEO, defined
SEO for optometrists applies search engine optimization to an eye care practice’s website and Business Profile; within optometry marketing, it is the work on organic rankings rather than ads. It covers two kinds of searches: care searches such as an eye exam or an eye emergency, then product searches such as frames and contact lenses. It also takes into account public coverage rules and the advertising rules of your provincial or state regulator.
Optometry SEO FAQ
Through two separate pages that point to each other. A parent looking for a child’s eye exam wants to know about coverage, availability and booking; a patient comparing frames wants photos, brands and a price. The eyewear page links to the exam page, the exam page links to your eyewear, and each page keeps its own keywords.
Usually, with the details your regulator requires. In Quebec, for example, section 85 of the Code of ethics of optometrists requires an advertised fee, product price or commercial offer to clearly specify the nature and scope of the services, the characteristics of the products, what is not included and the period of validity. We draft these details with you, and you approve every page. Quebec also requires keeping each ad for three years after it last ran (s. 87).
With ecommerce methods: product pages, frame and contact lens categories, product structured data and page speed on mobile. Each product page links back to booking, so online buyers can also schedule an eye exam or a fitting. Rules on selling ophthalmic products vary by province and state, so you check your regulator’s rules and approve each page before it goes live.
What the public plan or insurer actually publishes, with a link to the source. In Quebec, for example, RAMQ covers one complete eye exam per calendar year for patients under 18 or aged 65 and over, and emergency exams for any insured person with a sudden eye problem. Some services remain paid, such as retinal photography. We update the page when the rules change, then you approve it.
By putting forward what the practice does in person: the eye exam and the fitting of frames. We target local searches first, such as “optical store” or “contact lenses” plus the city, where a neighborhood practice can rank. A page on in-office fitting and follow-up appointments after purchase answers the questions patients ask before ordering. Patients keep the right to fill their prescription elsewhere, as US and Quebec rules state.
A page that explains the difference between the two professions answers a question patients ask. In Quebec, for example, the Ordre des optométristes du Québec describes the optometrist as the one who examines the eyes and vision and prescribes ophthalmic lenses, while an ophthalmologist is a physician who treats eye disease, including through surgery. We write this content with you, without clinical advice, then link it to your eye exam pages and your emergency page.
Often, yes. A website supplied by a banner or buying group can rely on a template shared by several clinics, with similar content. We add what sets your practice apart, such as your optometrists, your frame brands and your neighborhood, then keep your Business Profile and location pages current. Before changing the website, we check with you what your agreement with the group allows.
